The table has a beautifully balanced silhouette with slim rounded legs, softly raised gallery-style edges and a practical lower slatted shelf for books, magazines or objects. The long proportions give the piece a calm architectural presence, while the shaped edges and warm teak surface add depth, texture and refinement. A distinctive Danish modern piece with both visual lightness and everyday function.

Grete Jalk was one of the important female voices within Danish modern design. Active from the mid-20th century onwards, she contributed to Denmark’s international reputation for refined, functional furniture and was also known for her editorial work with the influential design magazine Mobilia. This coffee table reflects the Danish modern focus on honest materials, clean construction and furniture made for considered living.

Condition
Good vintage condition with signs of age and use consistent with its period. The table shows light surface scratches, small marks, minor dents, warm patina and subtle finish variation to the teak. There is visible age-related wear to the rounded edges and legs, adding to the character of the piece.
