The chairs have a raw and sculptural presence, with thick rounded seats, slightly splayed legs and distinctive T-shaped backrests that give each piece a strong graphic silhouette. The dark stained elm shows expressive grain, softened edges and a beautifully timeworn surface. Their compact proportions, carved forms and visible patina give the set a quiet, honest character, refined in shape, but still earthy and tactile.

Aranjou is associated with French solid wood furniture from the mid-20th century, especially elm pieces with a rustic, handcrafted and brutalist character.

Condition
Good vintage condition with visible signs of age and use consistent with its period. The chairs show scratches, scuffs, dents, finish wear, darker marks, colour variation and patina throughout. The seats and backrests have visible surface wear and rubbed edges, with some lighter wear to the corners, legs and seat fronts. Each chair has slight differences in tone and patina, adding to the character of the set. Structurally stable and ready for use.
